Asbestos containing materials (ACMs) were widely used during the construction and refurbishment of buildings from the 1950s to the mid 1980s. ACMs can be found in all parts of a building and have a wide variety of uses.
 Asbestos surveys are designed to locate these materials and assess any associated risk with them. An asbestos survey must conform to standards set out in the Health & Safety Executive’s (HSE) MDHS 100.
Regulations have been implemented to protect the people most likely to come into contact with asbestos. Builders, plumbers, electricians, maintenance workers etc are considered to be amongst those most likely to be exposed to asbestos fibres during their work.
