In May 2004 Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2002 came into force as a legal requirement, the 2002 regulations have now been superseded by the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, but regulation 4 remains the same.
This regulation requires duty holders of non domestic premises to assess the likelihood of the presence of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACMs) (an asbestos survey will give you this information) and, where they are found, produce a written management plan which assesses the risk and identifies the measures to be implemented to manage the risk.
Please note; Asbestos (Licensing) Regulations 1983 as amended 1998 and the Asbestos (Prohibitions) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 are now part of Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006
